Dac, Joe and Jaymee continue to be bombarded by the new mysteries that this second book is unveiling during its opening chapters. One thing, at least, that puts them on more familiar ground is the opportunity to hate on Spook some more. So that's got to be comforting. But the deeper questions remain. What is the mist thingy? Who is the Watcher? What's up with Marsh? And did Sanderson really have Vin give the kandra a dog's body so that he could make a joke about the guy with the dog's body being her new dogsbody? Who knows. We certainly don't on this newest episode of The Sanderlanche!

We start in on the second book of our Sanderson journey this week with The Well of Ascension. Seemed like a good idea after finishing The Final Empire. It would have been an odd choice to jump to Warbreaker or something at this point, I think. Will our hosts be happy that Elend hasn't been deposed in the time between books? What will they make of The Watcher and the mysterious thing in the mists? Do they expect that Straff Venture will be getting his long-awaited Father of the Year trophy this book? Find out on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

In this episode we look back over some of the most accurate predictions from our read-through of The Final Empire. Some of them aren't so out there as to be mind-blowing, but some were eerily correct. After that, we discuss our first Cosmere short, The 11th Metal. Kelsier fights his first mistborn, and Gemmel gets a sweet fork. Everybody wins, except for that guy who died I guess, but he was a jerk anyway. All this and more on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

This is it, ladies and skaa, the end. Our three newbies finish their first ever Sanderson book. As their first true Sanderlanche reaches its denouement, will they be amazed and enamored of the story's intricacies? Or will they be horribly disappointed by its faults? Find out by tuning in to this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

In these chapters, the revolution begins, Vive la Révolution! It's just like the theme song you've been listening to at the start of our show this whole time. What a crazy random happenstance. Vin Batmans her way into Kredik Shaw only to end up in something of a sticky situation. Meanwhile, Dac, Jaymee and Joe are trying to figure out how on Scadrial this story could possibly wrap up with only 6% of the book to go. Don't be too hard on them, folks. This is their first Sanderlanche. They don't know quite yet how these things go. Join us as we inch ever closer to the incredible finale on this week's penultimate episode of The Final Empire as covered by The Sanderlanche crew!

The Sanderlanche has begun in earnest now, whether our good hosts recognize it yet or not. People have died (or have they?), and the speed with which things are getting thrown at us is rapidly approaching break-neck. What is Kelsier's true fate, and how will this book end? Join us as we debate these points on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

In this week's episode, Vin finally gets back at Shan Elarial ... by straight-up murdering her. I suppose that's one way to do it. In the meantime, we delve into some of the mysteries of allomancy and why Vin is just so dang powerful. And then we talk about Final Fantasy. Because of course we do. What's Brandon Sanderson's favorite Final Fantasy game? We'll happily tell you all about it on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

In this week's episode, the hosts think we're building to something big as the book moves into the last quarter. No one is sure who they can trust. Elend is worried about Vin's secret motives and our hosts have started to turn a wary eye toward Sazed as well. If you can't trust your steward, who can you trust? And the predigments section heats up as Jaymee blasts in with a wild (and might I add, very thoroughly researched) prediction. Who's right? Who's wrong? Who's lying through their teeth? Join us for definitive answers to none of these questions on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

Kelsier brings back hope to the crew and to our hosts! Joe is so full of hope that he's practically tear-bending. There's an inspirational speech, a whole lot of beheadings and the reveal of the 9th metal (it's about time). Check out the group's reactions to all of this as well as some killer predigments on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

Pewter dragging and the merciless slaughter of thousands of skaa soldiers. Just another day in The Final Empire, right? We see the gang's plan fall apart before our very eyes in these chapters. Listen to us talk about the repercussions of this disaster, Yeden's incompetence and just continue to really give Spook a hard time in this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

In this episode everyone just goes off on Spook. I mean we give him a seriously hard time. After that, we talk about all the great character development that we're getting in these chapters, and Jaymee has a complete reversal on her feelings about Elend. Theories, suspicions, and insults are flying around, sometimes faster than I can keep up with them, on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

In these chapters, Vin gets a lesson in bronze and Kelsier inspects the army. After really enjoying a deeper look into Vin's family history as well as Marsh's (and by extension Kelsier's), we get into some very serious talks about what Kelsier does while visiting the army. Has he gone too far? Or, and stick with me here, maybe Kelsier hasn't not gone too far enough. Give that a bit to sink in. It still won't mean anything.

In this episode, Vin attends her second ball and Kelsier has a night on the town. It's kind of like when other people have a night on the town, only with more corpses. Meanwhile, we talk about how open the Lord Ruler is to societal critiques, also possums, and finally Elend. Oh, this guy. Is Elend Venture a devious spy for the Lord Ruler or a hapless fool? Were his books evidence of a clever ruse or reckless overconfidence? Everyone has their own theory about it on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

Turns out 4 chapters makes for a pretty long episode. In this episode we talk about Vin and Kelsier's invasion of Kredik Shaw, and the near-disastrous results. We also get theories about what it will look like if Vin ever meets Reen again, and Joe has an issue with the robot from the 80s Ninja Turtles cartoon. Why? Find out in this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

In these chapters, Vin attends her first ball in the guise of noblewoman Valette Renoux. Then she follows Kelsier out into the night and we finally learn what Atium does. Will Dac get his wish for a volcano metal? Listen and find out. Or read. You've probably already done that. Spoiler: It's not (or is it? [no, no it's not]). And we get down to the real questions of the series. What was the Deepness? Who is Vin's father, really? And is it actually ok to read a book at a party? Join us as we fail to come up with satisfactory answers to any of these questions on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

Vin gets to see Breeze in action, and then discovers that the Inquisitors may be back on her trail. Meanwhile we discuss the moral pitfalls of emotional Allomancy as well as the disturbing implications of Aang's unilateral decisions about ruling authorities in the world of Avatar the Last Airbender. Where did that come from? I'm actually still not 100% sure.

Things start to come together faster than anyone anticipated, and Joe wants to know what everyone's Skaa underground name would be. After all, no one could actually be named "Breeze," right? Whose mom even does that? Intro and Outro music courtesy of Miracle of Sound.
