Joe couldn't make it to this record. So Dac, Jaymee and Data talk over the ramifications of the details that are coming to light about the Set's plan as well as Telsin's sudden, unexpected appearance. These chapters are mostly one long fight, but it's a very cool fight with lots of interesting little bits of information dropped along the way. We also get introduced to Gertruda, which is a name we're going to have to come up with a nickname for before long, I think. Jaymee couldn't make it this week, but for some reason that always seems to make the episodes run longer. She must be a moderating influence on our ridiculous tangents. This week we're taking a bit of a detour. We're moving into Perfect State, a non-Cosmere novella, for a couple of weeks. The reason? I need some time to read The Lost Metal and decide whether or not we can cover it next. So stay tuned to find out.

Joe is out for a few weeks to spend time with his new baby. This time around we thought we'd try to go a little more on-brand for Sanderlanche content. So we're reading new Sanderson stuff! I've picked out some stand-alone short stories and novellas we can read for a few weeks without Joe feeling like he's missing out on much. First up is Firstborn, the first sci-fi story Brandon ever published. Even in this early piece of writing Brandon manages to pull some interesting little tricks, even if the ending is a bit abrupt.

We've arrived at a mysterious temple high up in the mountains, and things are taking a decided Indiana Jones-esque turn in this book. Or The Golden Child? Maybe it's Ace Ventura 2: When Nature Calls. It's time to invade a ... warehouse. Ok, so that's not terribly dramatic sounding, but believe me, it's pretty intense. In these chapters our characters learn some interesting things about an eldritch device or two and then plan an infiltration. The podcast crew has mixed reactions.
