We're back from our break and only a little bit rusty. But we do get to talk about Vin attending her first ball since that time that she killed Shan Elarial, and my, oh my, how our little girl has grown up. The epigraphs continue to shed light on the behind-the-scenes goings-on, as some things become clearer and some things maybe become a bit murkier. I'm also in fine form as you beloved (yes, I said beloved, you know it's true) crew leader manages to screw up the part where I talk about which chapters we're reading for next week. In this episode, Spook continues to get no pity, particularly from Joe, but if you weren't expecting that by this point you probably haven't been paying close enough attention. In the meantime, Dac is outraged by a new character's name and everyone lives in dread of Allrianne appearing like a jack-in-the-box at the mention that a dress is needed. And then there are the tangents. Great Kelsier's Ghost, this is a bit of a crazy episode of The Sanderlanche!

We've made it to Fadrex city. What a trek, huh? Honestly, after 2 books cooped up in Luthadel, I think our Sanderlanche crew is just glad to be out and about breathing the clean, well, ash-filled, air of the empire. There's plots, plans, maybe even a scheme or two as Elend and co get ready to lay siege to Fadrex. Meanwhile, we get a flashback to the much-anticipated Spook origin story. Just like Solo: A Star Wars story, we're getting the answers to all those niggling questions you never cared enough to ask. Where is Spook from? What happened to his parents? And how did he get his name? ... No, not the name Spook. We know how he got that one. The other one, Lestibournes. Most importantly of all, how will these revelations affect the Spook Rap? In this episode Spook is not good at flirting. Also he is visited by the ghost of Kelsier, who we decide must be here to talk to him about copyright infringement. A survivor? There can be only one! We also find out that Sazed is a king or something? Maybe? King of the sheep? King of the trolls? A clandestine land found underneath his floorboards?  Our crew isn't sure what to do with that one exactly. The Kandra chapters are really holding the crew's attention at this point. TenSoon takes the stand in the trial of the century ... probably ... maybe ... I mean, I don't know how many trials they hold back in the Kandra homeland. Maybe this one is boring by comparison. Doesn't seem super likely though. On top of that, though, Joe has been putting a lot of thought into this book, like a lot, creating a web of possibilities, and not just because he's kind of drunk this episode. This week our hosts are still riding the high of a new book with all sorts of exciting things happening. We get to look in on Sazed and Breeze as they politely strong-arm another kingdom into the fold, and TenSoon is on his way to trial. Everyone is more certain than ever that they know who is actually writing these epigraphs. Could they be right? Probably not, but I'm certainly not going to tell you one way or the other. That's not how we do things on The Sanderlanche!

And here we are, beginning the final book of Mistborn Era 1. In this episode Joe is gleefully chowing down on tasty knowledge nuggets. Jaymee is reveling in what seems like it could be another successful bit of theorycrafting. And Dac is just happy to see Marsh and TenSoon again. Do you remember last time when Dac and Jaymee were oh-so-sure Elend would never be easily convinced to leave the city? Yeah, that was funny, wasn't it? Anyway, there's a wedding, and then Vin and Elend leave the city. (Dac is ready to throw in the predigments tower at this point). Meanwhile, Joe has COVID and yet his dedication to the show is so strong that he shows up for the discussion anyway. This guy. So what kind of mess do we make of it all this week? We're back and more non-sensical than ever. There are some big things happening in these chapters, and one of them may or may not have been predicted by Joe for quite some time, and, oh, isn't he smug about it. On the other hand, everyone is absolutely delighted to see the end of Zane. Things are starting to get revealed, and the eponymous sanderlanche seems to be revving up. This week there's a really spectacular fight that leaves no one feeling very good, particularly not Vin, but our newbies aren't far behind her there. They're all pretty united in their hatred for Zane at this point, though. So that's something. We're moving in to the last quarter of the book now, and people are starting to get on edge a bit. How much of the story could Brandon possibly wrap up in the remaining time, and who will we lose along the way? Hear the theories and the fears on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

Vin sits out these chapters entirely, and, surprisingly, our crew is kind of energized by that. Maybe it's the fact that Elend is finally acting like a king, or maybe it's the part where he makes a suicidal stroll through the koloss camp. Regardless, Dac, Jaymee and Joe are loving the Elend-heavy chapters. Who thought we'd ever say something like that after how they felt at the end of The Final Emprie, right? Be careful what you wish for. Our crew finally gets their long-awaited action scene, and it's ... it's a rough one. There's body parts exploding and Vin taking a beating. Not for the faint of heart, basically. We also get the election we've been building to for oh-so-many chapters now, and it's a bit rough as well. Basically, this episode is one great big monkey's paw. Beware! Beware The Sanderlanche!

Our crew is really vibing with these chapters, despite the continued lack of action scenes. Don't get me wrong, Joe and Dac still don't love Cett, but our friends from Terris have finally started really digging into this research on the Deepness, and that's got everyone excited, not to mention our first Breeze POV. The sad part is, we're quickly running out of suspects for who the Kandra is. Could Joe have been right all along? Anything is possible on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

In this episode, we've got some meta discussions of the book and how we're feeling now that we're about halfway through. Jaymee has had enough of library book club scenes, and Joe and Dac have both already had enough of Cett, despite this being his first actual appearance. Then we get into some of the secret, hidden mysteries of the Kandra and get outraged that Vin doesn't care as much as we do. There are so many juicy secrets out there just beyond our reach, and our crew is starting to get tired of that too, on this week's episode of The Sanderlanche!

A deep discussion of The Deepness takes place in these chapters, and our newbies couldn't be happier about it. Who cares about who gets to be king when there's a mysterious (possibly tentacle-laden) monster out there waiting to destroy the world ... or something. You know, it's not entirely clear. In any case, that's followed up by the shocking and unexpected introduction of Cett himself. Now this is good television - err - book. Everyone was surprised by this twist, but only one of our hosts instantly shouts the equivalent of, "Off with his head!"
